15th Warrington (St Joseph’s) celebrated their 50th Golden Jubilee in style with a fantastic group camp at Hesley Wood in Sheffield last weekend. Founded in 1973 this was the first of several events planned throughout the year for the group.
The camp was a huge success and was enjoyed by Cubs, Scouts, Leaders and Parents alike.
There was a huge range of activities spread over 3 days for both young people and adults, and the team went to town with the catering, hiring the on-site mess tent with a fully functional kitchen, as well as booking a superb hog roast company for the birthday bonanza meal on the Sunday night. A huge birthday cake was bagpiped into the party to round off the meal. The meal was followed by a Gold themed quiz to conclude the celebration.
Campfire fun was had by all into the night, with some hilarious renditions of traditional and more obscure campfire songs.
Celebrations will continue throughout the year with a presence at Penketh Carnival in July and a joint celebration with St Joseph’s Parish who itself is celebrating its Centenary in September. Hopefully we will see some of you there at one of these events.
